Vikings match Bengals’ offer sheet on FB Tahi

Vikings FB Naufahu Tahi was ready to return to the Bengals, who signed him out of BYU in 2006, after his former team submitted a one-year, $1.4 million sheet for the restricted free agent last week.
However, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Vikings, who lost FB Leonard Weaver last week in free agency, plan to match the offer sheet, keeping Tahi in Minnesota.
- “Honestly, we didn’t know which way it was going to go,” Tahi’s agent, David Lee, said this morning. “It’s difficult to decide on a one-year deal for some teams but I told Fahu this morning, ‘I think you’re in a good situation football-wise either way.’ We’re pretty happy Minnesota [kept] him but we would have been happy with Cincinnati as well. … He’s in a great situation financially and football-wise and either way we really couldn’t lose.”
The Vikings confirmed the move later Friday in a press release.
