Anquan Boldin
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest’s pro day was a little bit more of a pro day than expected. Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin was on hand to watch his brother, D.J. Boldin, a wide receiver for the Demon Deacons, work out. We will get to baby bro in a minute.
I had the chance to talk to Anquan a little bit — with the emphasis on little — about his situation with the Cardinals. In case you don’t know, he has said he wanted to be traded but has backed off that position and, instead, would like a more lucrative contract extension. He told me nothing has really changed in terms of movement on a trade or extension, but that if anything were to happen, it would take place around the draft.
Not necessarily before the draft, but in April or May. He gave no indication as to what could happen or why he gave that time-frame, as he really didn’t want to discuss the matter much. From what I could tell, he would be open to any scenario — including returning to Arizona.
I wasn’t overly familiar with Boldin’s younger brother, who averaged more than six catches per game. D.J. wasn’t invited to the combine but is expected to get drafted. He ran his 40 in the 4.6 range and projects as a slot receiver, who, like his brother, can make plays across the middle and make yards after the catch.
