Stephen F. Austin University recently held its pro day outdoors on FieldTurf, with 12 NFL teams sending representatives. It was a tough day for the three players working out, who battled winds of up to 20 mph, though most of the day they were in the 10- to 15-mph range.
Here are the notable performances:
WR Dominique Edison (6-2 3/8, 196 pounds) ran a 4.37 and a 4.44 in the 40 with the wind and a 4.53 against the wind, and turned in a 7.09 time in the three-cone drill.
TE Tyrell Williams (6-4 3/8, 252 pounds) turned in 40 times of 4.72 seconds and 4.95 seconds. He had a 32-inch vertical and a 10-foot, 1-inch broad jump, with times of 4.40 in the short shuttle and 7.50 in the three-cone drill. He did 17 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
Texas A&M FB Jorvorskie Lane (5-11 7/8, 297 pounds) was going to work out at Stephen F. Austin, but pro day rules didn’t permit it, so he went to a nearby high school in Lufkin, Texas, to work out for scouts. He ran outdoors on FieldTurf, and had 40-yard dash times of 5.00 and 5.11. He didn’t do the vertical leap but had an 8-foot, 9-inch broad jump with a 4.51 short shuttle and a 7.64 three-cone drill. He did 17 reps on the bench.
Louisiana-Monroe
Representatives from 12 NFL teams came to the Louisiana-Monroe Pro Day to watch six players work out outdoors on FieldTurf on March 19. RB Calvin Dawson (5-8 5/8, 189 pounds) ran the 40 in 4.70 and 4.76 and had a 35-inch vertical and a 9-foot, 11-inch broad jump. He had a 4.21 time in the short shuttle and a 6.99 time in the three-cone drill. He put up 18 reps on the bench.
