Bills love Monday night, not necessarily Foxborough

DANA POINT, Calif. — Make no mistake, the Bills are thrilled to appear on Monday Night Football for the third consecutive season — and they’re especially happy to be part of the first act for the MNF season-opening doubleheader on Sept. 14.
The catch is that the Bills have to do so in Foxborough, Mass.
The Patriots have long held a competitive edge over their AFC East rivals, and the fact they get to host the throwback game helping to honor the 50th anniversary of the American Football League certainly wouldn’t figure to make the chore of facing them any easier.
“On the other hand, everyone is telling us that the best time to face Tom Brady is in the first (regular-season) game (since he suffered a season-ending knee injury at the start of last year),” a Bills official at the league meetings told me. “Maybe (playing it in Foxborough) is the trade off.”
