Notre Dame’s Weis knows how to run a pro day

Though the Fighting Irish have fewer NFL prospects this year than they have traditionally had in the past, the 15 scouts in attendance at Notre Dame’s pro day were nonetheless gushing over how great an event head coach Charlie Weis put on.
It was considered one of the best stops ever in pro day history in terms of how the scouts were treated. It featured not only one meal, but two meals. It was very well organized and Weis made all the players and support staff available for questions. It was absolutely unbelievable.
Here are the notable prospects who worked out indoors on FieldTurf:
S David Bruton (6-2 1/4, 219 pounds) stood on all his numbers from the combine and did only position drills. He has great range as a safety and is a special teams ace.
DB Terrail Lambert (5-10 1/4, 188 pounds) ran a 4.38 and 4.36 in the 40, had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump, a 4.09 short shuttle, a 6.80 three-cone drill and did 15 bench press reps. With his fast times Lambert may have made himself draft worthy.
LB Maurice Crum Jr. (5-11 5/8, 235 pounds) ran 4.85 twice in the 40, had a 28 1/2-inch vertical, an 8-foot, 9-inch broad jump, a 7.27 three-cone drill and did 18 bench press lifts.
