Free-agent WR Joey Galloway, 37, has signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, according to radio station WDAE in Tampa.
Galloway, who has spent the past five years with the Buccaneers, fell out of favor with Tampa Bay in ’08, starting four games and appearing in nine with 13 catches for 138 yards with no touchdowns. Prior to 2008, Galloway started 52 games over four seasons for the Bucs, turning in 1,000-yard seasons in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
In his 14 seasons in the league, Galloway has gone over the 1,000-yard plateau six times. Prior to Tampa Bay, Galloway spent four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and five with the Seattle Seahawks. For his career, Galloway has 682 catches for 10,710 yards and 77 touchdowns.
The Steelers also expressed interest in Galloway, hosting the veteran this week, but no contract offer was made, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
