The Denver Post reports that while the Broncos feel a conference call between coach Josh McDaniels and quarterback Jay Cutler went smoothly, a source close to Cutler claims he came away questioning whether or not he will be with the club by the draft on April 25.
The newspaper reports that the meeting did not go as Cutler had hoped and that he is undecided about attending the team’s offseason workout program, which starts next Monday. If Cutler does not report, the newspaper says, “he would be viewed as undermining McDaniels’ authority,” and could force the franchise’s hand.
According to the newspaper’s sources, Cutler is unhappy because McDaniels reportedly reiterated to him that no one is untradeable for the sake of improving the team.
Broncos spokesman Jim Saccomano was contacted by The Associated Press and said, “Josh McDaniels and Jay Cutler spoke on a conference call Monday and the Broncos look forward to talking to Jay in the future and certainly face to face.”
