Jones: ‘This certainly was a tough decision’

You heard it here first. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, attending a league meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., confirmed to NFL.com and the NFL Network on Thursday that wide receiver Terrell Owens has been released.

We’ll have the video of Jones for you soon. Until then, here are his comments on the release of Owens.

“Well, this was certainly a tough decision,” Jones said. “And I have all the feelings that I should have as far as Terrell as the great player he is and the impact he has made. I do appreciate what he has been for our team. But we certainly felt that this decision is the way we ought to go.”
