The Dallas Cowboys will make it official and release CB Adam Jones on Monday, the Dallas Morning News reported. The Cowboys announced the move last month, but Monday marks the first day that teams are allowed to make waiver requests for the 2009 season.

Before he hit the free-agent market, quarterback Luke McCown signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The deal includes a $2.5 million signing bonus and incentives that could boost the value to $14 million.

The Baltimore Ravens apparently are willing to pay up to keep 10-time Pro Bowl LB Ray Lewis. Lewis, who has said he will not give the Ravens a “hometown discount” to stay with the team, was rumored to be interested in the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets if Baltimore wasn’t willing to open its pocketbook.

Fans in Hawaii aren’t ready to say goodbye to the Pro Bowl. After the NFC’s 30-21 victory over the AFC on Sunday in Honolulu, the Pro Bowl will be played somewhere other than Hawaii for the first time since 1980.

Former Bucs coach Jon Gruden broke his silence over the weekend, giving an extensive interview with Chris Harry of the Orlando Sentinel.

There is speculation that Terrell Owens may be on his way out of Big D. I personally don’t believe that. I have always felt there was a conspiracy to blame T.O. as the source of the Cowboys’ woes. For the record, let me state that T.O. is a different kind of cat. And like every great receiver I know, including Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Marvin Harrison and Randy Moss, just to name a few, T.O. is an unhappy camper if he’s not getting the rock.
