After visiting with free-agent linebacker Michael Boley on Friday, the Giants are trying to finalizing a five-year deal with him, NFL Network’s Adam Schefter has confirmed.
Boley was an emerging star and potential Pro Bowler during the 2007 season with the Falcons. However, he fell out of favor late last season in new coach Mike Smith’s scheme and was used primarily as a coverage linebacker over the final few games.
For most of his career, Boley started at strongside linebacker, but the rangy 238-pounder could best be suited to play weakside linebacker. Boley is considered one of the top outside linebacker prospects in free agency.
