Rams cut Green, Bennett with eye on savings

It doesn’t compare to Tampa Bay, but St. Louis had a busy day of its own.

Among the moves they made in preparation for Friday’s free agency, the Rams released WR Drew Bennett and QB Trent Green.

It wasn’t cheap to do. Bennett will count just under $5 million against the Rams’ salary cap this season, but by cutting him, the team saves $5o,000. Green will count $1.4 million against the cap, but his release saves the Rams $1.3 million.
