Panthers make cuts

Tampa wasn’t the only NFC South team handing out pink slips Wednesday. Carolina did the same.

The Panthers cut fullback Nick Goings, wide receiver D.J. Hackett and guard Jeremy Bridges. None of the three were a big surprise, not with the money the moves will save the Panthers. Cutting Goings saves $820,000 against the cap, Bridges $2.375 million and Hackett $1.282 million. All together, it’s close to $5 million in salary cap space. And it’s space the Panthers need.
