The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Falcons and LB Keith Brooking are struggling to reach a deal, meaning the five-time Pro Bowler could be headed for free agency.
- “We had multiple conversations this weekend with the Falcons regarding their interest in re-signing Keith,” agent Pat Dye Jr. wrote in an e-mail to the Journal-Constitution. “At this time, I think both sides are struggling a little bit to assess his market value.
- “It may take exploring his options in free agency to give us all a better sense of where he is in the current universe of NFL linebackers,” Dye said. “Our discussions with the Falcons will be ongoing during this process.”
Brooking is the last player remaining from the Falcons’ only Super Bowl appearance, which came following the 1998 season in Super Bowl XXXIII.
