The Oakland Raiders continued trimming the fat from their roster Monday by waiving OT Kwame Harris and FB Justin Griffith.
Together, the two moves will save the Raiders more than $8.3 million against the salary cap.
Harris was scheduled to count for $8.798 million against the cap, and his only acceleration will be close to $1.6 million. His departure will save the Raiders $7.2 million against the salary cap. Harris was another 2008 free-agent signing who failed to work out in Oakland.
Griffith will save the Raiders another $1.1 million against the salary cap, as his $1.1 million base salary is wiped off Oakland’s books, with a mere $333,334 being accelerated.
These are the Raiders’ moves today. Another likely is ahead with WR Javon Walker.
