While the trio were teammates with the Trojans, they are now competitors. In fact, they were even competing in the media center for face time. Maualuga and Cushing hit the podium simultaneously, causing a groan from reporters, who wanted to speak to both athletes.
Matthews got the spotlight to himself later on and was peppered with questions about his father, Clay, and his uncle Bruce, who both had long NFL careers.
As for his Trojan teammates, Matthews said Maualuga is the physical and fierce presence, Cushing is the blue-collar worker and he called himself “the smart guy, the heady guy.”
