Dolphins re-sign tackle Carey

Scratch another prospective offensive tackle off the free-agent list.

Miami offensive tackle Vernon Carey re-signed with the Dolphins, securing a six-year, $42 million deal that will keep him in the same city he played high school and college football. Carey and the Dolphins have been talking for days and talks were productive enough that Miami felt it did not have to use its franchise tag on him. Now the Dolphins have their bookend tackles, Jake Long and Carey, for years to come.

Also, with Carey’s deal out of the way the Dolphins can focus their energies on resigning safety Yeremiah Bell and cornerback Andre Goodman.
