Bucs plan to use franchise tag on WR Bryant

Flush with salary-cap space, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to designate wide receiver Antonio Bryant their franchise player by Thursday.

The move means Bryant’s salary will go from $600,000 last season to at least $9.9 million, the franchise tender number. But it will limit Bryant from shopping his services to the highest bidder.

Now the Bucs have taken a wide receiver that would have drawn considerable interest off the free-agent market. Teams such as the Dolphins, Titans, 49ers and Seahawks will have to look elsewhere for receiving help.

Bryant isn’t going anywhere.
