Niners not interested in Vick after all

Hours after head coach Mike Singletary intimated that the 49ers could be interested in imprisoned QB Michael Vick, the team quickly moved to say that wasn’t the case, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. While Singletary was kind of vague, the 49ers moved like the former linebacker filling a hole.
- “The 49ers are not interested in Michael Vick,” said a team spokesman Tuesday evening.
Not like the 49ers are short of quarterback options. Shaun Hill finished the 2008 season strong with a 5-3 record. Former first overall selection Alex Smith also could be in the mix. And NFL.com senior columnist Steve Wyche believes the 49ers will select Mark Sanchez with the 10th overall selection.
That leaves little room for Vick, who is serving prison time on federal dogfighting charges and could be traded by the Atlanta Falcons.
