The Tennessee Titans just introduced new defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil at a news conference. Cecil has spent the last eight seasons involved in several aspects of the Titans’ defense, including quality control (2001-03), safeties and nickel backs coach (2004-06) and secondary coach (2007-08).
Titans head coach Jeff Fisher made the announcement.
“He’s without question, the best man available for the job,” said Fisher. “And he’s right here. Stability and continuity are very important to us. … He brings a great deal of experience.”
Cecil played seven NFL seasons for the Packers (1988-92), Cardinals (93) and Oilers (95), totaling 400 career tackles, 16 interceptions and a trip to the Pro Bowl in 1992.
He fielded questions from reporters, and his best line was this:
“I’m not going to sit here and tell you I have all the answers,” Cecil joked. “I have a couple of them. If you want all the answers, you’ll have to call my wife.”
