Bucs rumored to be targeting Haynesworth

Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth will be one of the most sought-after free agents this offseason.
Haynesworth, 27, has made a huge impact on the Tennessee Titans, who are 21-5 in games he has started the last two seasons and 1-4 in games in which he didn’t play. (He played in one game but didn’t start in 2007 — and the Titans won.) That should be enough to drive up his price.
The St. Petersburg Times reports that the Buccaneers figure to be one of the leaders in pursuit of Haynesworth.
- Tampa Bay is considered by many NFL insiders to be a possible landing spot for perhaps this year’s top free-agent prize. And we’re not talking about media here. We’re talking agents and people in front offices — those in the know.
The Titans, of course, will remain in the mix. And Haynesworth has said he would like to stay in Tennessee, but he won’t give any hometown discount.
