The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Steelers WR Hines Ward had surgery on his shoulder and not his troublesome knee. Ward sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the AFC Championship Game last month, but will not require surgery for that injury.
In other Steelers news, the team is making a push to retain either Max Starks or Marvel Smith at left tackle. Both players are unrestricted free agents. The Steelers have a number of decisions to make on the offensive line, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
