Garcia, Bucs heading for a breakup

Jeff Garcia doesn’t believe he will be back in Tampa Bay after the Buccaneers re-signed fellow QB Luke McCown. Garcia texted the Tampa Tribune and told the newspaper that the team hasn’t reached out to him.

“It looks like they have decided to go in another direction with the signing of Luke,” Garcia said. “I’m happy for him and his family. He has worked hard and is a talented player.”

One of the reasons the Bucs might have signed McCown was to keep WR Antonio Bryant happy, according to the St. Petersburg Times. The newspaper speculated that McCown’s signing might entice the WR to stay in Tampa Bay.

If Garcia does look for a new team, the Dallas Cowboys might be interested in him. The Dallas Morning News has submitted its wish list of potential backup quarterbacks. Wonder how Terrell Owens, Garcia’s former teammate in San Francisco, would feel about that.
