KAPOLEI, Hawaii — QB Peyton Manning is known as one of the biggest pranksters on the Indianapolis Colts.
Each summer, he has long been suspected of being responsible for golf carts belonging to Colts administrative staff and coaches ending up on rafts and floating in the middle of a retention pond at the team’s training camp.
Manning is keeping his mischievous reputation alive and well at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Toward the end of Friday’s practice, he turned to Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez and said, “Man, it sure is hot today.” Gonzalez agreed and accepted Manning’s offer of a water bottle. Little did Gonzalez know that Manning had loosened the cap, and when Gonzalez tipped it back for a swig, he received an unexpected shower of water and ice. That prompted an eruption of laughter from other players on the team.
Earlier in the week, Manning helped set up fellow AFC QB Jay Cutler to be thrown in the pool at the players’ hotel — with his clothes on — by two offensive linemen. Though that prank had a disastrous result.
