Woodson could play more safety next season

The Packers had their challenges at the safety position in 2008 because of injuries. Pro Bowl pick Nick Collins is locked in at one corner position, and the Packers hope Atari Bigby can return to his 2007 pre-injury form. If not, coach Mike McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he would consider using Charles Woodson at safety.
- “I would say his natural position is definitely corner, and I think he’s an excellent nickel player in sub defenses, because he has the ability to get his hands on the receiver,” McCarthy said of Woodson. “He’s an excellent bump-and-run player, plays a lot of instincts. I think he’s definitely built for corner. I think he’s played well at safety for us.”
