Agent downplays Warner’s retirement talk

Cardinals QB Kurt Warner has hinted at retirement during the season and has now said that he will take some time to make a decision about his playing future. Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told the East Valley Tribune that fans shouldn’t pay too much attention to his client’s talk of retirement.
- “He wants to take a deep breath and decompress and make sure he’s doing the right thing. I don’t think people should read too much into it. He loves to play. He hasn’t lost any of his competitiveness or fire for the game. … It’s a grueling, brutal sport. Any player in his 30s … wants to make sure he’s doing things for all the right reasons.”
Of course, this is coming from his agent who might be looking to garner the best deal for Warner.
