Rodney Harrison understands what Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson is going through. He has been there. Harrison spent nine seasons with the Chargers before he was released. Not that it didn’t work out for Harrison, who went on to win two Super Bowls as a strong safety for the Patriots.

The 49ers are interviewing and hiring a lot of coaches with connections to Michael Vick. Is this a signal that the 49ers are preparing a run for the enigmatic QB?

Jets owner supports a return for Favre

Jets owner Woody Johnson publicly supports the return of embattled QB Brett Favre, according to the New York Post. Favre looked like an MVP candidate for the Jets during the team’s five-game winning streak in the middle part of the season. But the Jets, and Favre in particular, faltered down the stretch losing four of their final five games to miss the playoffs. The Jets fired coach Eric Mangini, but now Johnson would like to see Favre return for one more season in New York.

Gruden has a statue in the team’s training facility, for crying out loud — to honor Tampa Bay’s victory over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. So the firing, despite the team’s December collapse, seemed like a surprise. Unless you played for him, of course.
