It didn’t take long for the Detroit Lions’ new head coach, Jim Schwartz, to begin reaching out to assistant coaching candidates.
Schwartz asked for and received permission to interview Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, who worked with him on the Tennessee Titans’ staff from 2001 to 2003.

Fantasy owners are always on the lookout for potential sleepers, even if the next full season doesn’t start for eight months.
One of the players you’ll hear about a lot is Joe Flacco. The strong-armed rookie out of Delaware showed flashes of potential during the regular season, and he’s led the Ravens deep into the postseason. With a full season of experience under his belt and a wealth of talent, it appears that the sky is the limit for Flacco in black and purple.

Jason Garrett is traveling to St. Louis this afternoon, according to a league source, and it could be a sign that the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator could be the Rams’ pick as their new head coach.

The Lions received some outside help in their bid to hire Jim Schwartz as their head coach.
During his introductory press conference Friday at Ford Field, Schwartz said that a former college teammate highlighted Detroit’s blue-collar values in trying to convince the coach to take over the Lions, who went 0-16 this season and haven’t posted a winning campaign since 2000.
