The Los Angeles Times is reporting that former Broncos quarterback coach Jeremy Bates will be the new assistant head coach for offense for the University of Southern California. Bates, who tutored Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, also will call the plays for USC’s offense.

Prospective Browns general manager George Kokinis met with new coach Eric Mangini and his staff on Monday, but left without a contract according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The website is reporting that a formal announcement could be made later this week. Mangini is skipping the Senior Bowl this week while huddling with Kokinis.

New York can only hope that Rex Ryan is as good for the Jets as his father Buddy once was. A little known fact: From 1968-75, Rex’s father, Buddy, was the Jets’ defensive line coach.
