Simeon Rice, a former Buccaneers defensive end, took the low road when my radio partner, Tim Ryan, and I talked with him. It was disappointing to hear how bitter Rice was about the final days of his Tampa Bay career.

The former Pro Bowler painted a bad picture of Jon Gruden and used an inappropriate expression to describe his former coach. Then Rice confused me when he said he could still play for Gruden and he had friends who are like the coach. Some guys just want to hear themselves talk, but the problem is some people, like the children of coaches, have to hear that stuff, and then it’s out of bounds.

I received so many e-mails, mostly from people who were disappointed in the way Rice talked about Gruden.
