Schefter raises the bar …

When it comes to live chats, NFL Network’s Adam Schefter just set the bar high. Probably one of the most informative chats we’ve ever done. This shouldn’t be filed under “shamless self promotion” either … he just flat-out killed it.

Schefter gave his take on a variety of offseason questions around the NFL, from the Vikings’ options at quarterback to who will be the Chiefs’ next head coach to Donovan McNabb’s future in Philly. Good stuff.

This has the makings of a Brett Favre drama written on it. McNabb will want long-term security, the Eagles will balk at giving him too much of it, and it sets up a potential showdown. Now I remember two years ago, an NFC team called the Eagles and asked what it would take to get McNabb. It was told three first-round picks. Don’t think the price would be that high now, but if Philadelphia ever decided it would be willing to entertain trade offers, the Eagles start by asking for at least two first-round picks.

Check out Schefter’s chat transcript for the full deal.

We’ve got a lot of chats lined up this week … here’s a breakdown: Pat Kirwan will chat at noon ET on Weds and Fri. Gil Brandt takes his turn at 2 ET on Tue and Thu. Barrett Ruud of the Tampa Bay Bucs chats at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday, followed by NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche at 4 p.m. ET.
