Cowher to Chiefs? ‘Not going to happen,’ source says

Initially, at least, it doesn’t appear Herm Edwards’ replacement in Kansas City will be Bill Cowher. The former Steelers coach has repeatedly said he won’t return to coaching in 2009, and the opportunity with the Chiefs that opened after Edwards was fired last week isn’t an exception. One source close to Cowher told The Kansas City Star it won’t happen:

The source said Cowher has reiterated to friends and colleagues over the past few months that he has no desire to coach in 2009. He hasn’t spoken with any NFL team about a vacancy this offseason, and the source said even the Chiefs couldn’t pry Cowher out of the CBS broadcasting booth.
