Lead negotiator Ron Forman said Louisiana state officials believe they’re near a deal with the New Orleans Saints to keep the team at the Superdome past the 2009 season. Here’s what Forman told WWL Radio in New Orleans:
- “We have high expectations and hopes that we can work out our negotiations with the Saints so we can go together and seek the Super Bowl. The meetings have been very, very positive.”
Forman also expressed hope that after a deal is struck with the Saints, New Orleans can place a Super Bowl bid at the NFL owners meeting. All Super Bowl sites are set through 2012.
New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl nine times but not since 2002.
