Cassel saying the right things

Patriots QB Matt Cassel made himself a valuable commodity after admirably filling in for starter Tom Brady in 2008. But what happens with Brady comes back?

Cassel could cash in, like Matt Schaub and Scott Mitchell before him (or if you want to go really old school or if you are a Survivor fan, there’s Gary Hogeboom).

However, Cassel told the Boston Herald that he wouldn’t mind still being the guy behind the guy.

“If the situation is what it is, then I would accept it and I would continue to do what I have done my entire career, which is work hard, put my best foot forward and continue to work on the things that I need to and put out my best effort,” Cassel said.

Hey, even if he doesn’t believe it, Cassel will end up making a lot of money.

Cassel also talked to NFL Network on Thursday and discussed his future in an eight-minute interview.
