They are a couple that have had their ups and downs. But ultimately, Eagles coach Andy Reid and quarterback Donovan McNabb has been as good for Philadelphia as just about any other coach-quarterback tandem in NFL history.
Reid and McNabb will be matched in their fifth conference championship game Sunday at Arizona, linking them to and in NFL history.
Only five other coach-quarterback combos have appeared in that many conference championship games. The list is more illustrious than it is long. Here are the six coach-quarterback combos to appear in at least five conference championship games:
| Head coach | Quarterback | Team | Conference championships | Record |
| Tom Landry | Roger Staubach | Dallas | 6 | 4-2 |
| Chuck Noll | Terry Bradshaw | Pittsburgh | 6 | 4-2 |
| Bill Belichick | Tom Brady | New England | 5 | 4-1 |
| Marv Levy | Jim Kelly | Buffalo | 5 | 4-1 |
| John Madden | Ken Stabler | Oakland | 5 | 1-4 |
| Andy Reid | Donovan McNabb | Philadelphia | 5 (on Sunday) | 1-3 |
