Pioli has cap room to help rebuild Chiefs

There were 45 million reasons the Chiefs new general manager Scott Pioli was drawn to Kansas City. As in, the Chiefs are projected to be $45 million under the 2009 salary cap.
Now granted, the Chiefs have plenty of holes to fill. They need to find pass rushers, a quarterback, and playmakers on both sides of the football. But former Chiefs president Carl Peterson left his franchise in fine financial shape for Pioli. And one of the reasons Pioli had to be drawn to Kansas City is the $45 million it now is under the salary cap.
