Cards would benefit from letting James go

Arizona’s next loss, whether it’s today against Carolina or later in the postseason, is expected to be running back Edgerrin James‘ final game in a Cardinals uniform.
Cutting James, who carries a $6.75 million salary-cap number for next season, will be a salary-cap boon for the Cardinals. When the Cardinals and James cut ties, Arizona will save $5 million against the cap, tacking that on to the $41 million it’s already scheduled to be under the cap.
Then the Cardinals would have close to $50 million –- $50 million in cap room! –- available this offseason.
