Eric Mangini has yet to be introduced as the Cleveland Browns’ head coach, but he made his first move by hiring Rob Ryan as his defensive coordinator.
The Oakland Raiders’ coaching staff is being picked clean today as Tom Rathman was hired as the San Francisco 49ers’ running backs coach earlier today. Ryan joined the Raiders in 2004 after spending four seasons with the New England Patriots (2000-03) where he and Mangini served on Bill Belichick’s staff.
New York Jets quarterbacks coach Brian Daboll is considered the leading candidate to to join Mangini and become the Browns’ offensive coordinator, according to two league sources.
