On the day the Oakland Raiders lost their offensive coordinator, they also lost their running backs coach.
Reaching into their past, the San Francisco 49ers hired Raiders assistant Tom Rathman as their running backs coach.
Rathman once paved the way for standout running back Roger Craig. Now he will have to lead the way for Frank Gore in a different kind of way. But make no mistake — San Francisco’s coaches will be some of the most intense in the league.
