Heckert will interview with Browns for GM job

The hiring situation in Cleveland continues to be one of the most confounding in the league. First New England’s Scott Pioli‘s name was linked to the general manager job, then Baltimore’s George Kokinis, and now Philadelphia’s Tom Heckert.

Like Pioli — but unlike Kokinis — Heckert now is scheduled to interview with Browns owner Randy Lerner on Friday. Pioli interviewed with Lerner in New York, and it is thought that Heckert will do the same. So it turns out to be quite the busy week for Heckert, whose Eagles are preparing to play the Giants in Sunday’s NFC Divisional Playoff.

Heckert has a history with the Browns — his father was a scout for Cleveland.
