Vikings, down three starters on ‘D,’ still bringing heat

First-half observations from our crew:

Even though the Vikings are now down three defensive starters (FS Darren Sharper left the game with an ankle injury), they’re certainly bringing all kinds of pressure and held the Eagles to three field goals on three consecutive possessions. We’re surprised that the Vikings have been as successful running the ball on the Eagles, considering how good Philadelphia’s run defense has been down the stretch. NFL Network player correspondent Jon Jansen believes that particularly after Asante Samuel‘s interception return for a touchdown, the Eagles might have been going for the big play a bit too much and over-pursuing.

And lastly, the press box wasn’t designed with the thought that a 6-foot-6 offensive lineman would be covering the game. Jon stood up and hit his head on the ceiling.
