I’m on the field with NFL Network player correspondent Jon Jansen watching the Eagles-Vikings pregame. Jon was remarking how much Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is going to miss having tight end L.J. Smith (out with shoulder injury), especially at the start of the game to establish a rhythm in the short passing game.
We just spoke with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, who’s grinning from ear to ear to be hosting a playoff game. He was remarking how much Jared Allen has added to the chemistry of the team and loosened up the atmosphere. I spent about half a day with Allen last week doing an interview, and I concur: He’s hilarious. Allen and the “Williams Wall” just yell ridiculous stuff at each other back and forth across the locker room.
The mullet that Allen sports (in all its glory on the right) even grows on you after awhile. He calls head coach Brad Childress “Chili” and said he’s trying to get him to “rock a skullet.” Which, in case you’re not aware, is bald on the top and long in the back.
I’ll leave you with that image.
