After remaining idle the first week of the offseason, Raiders owner Al Davis finally was planning to interview his first head coaching candidate Saturday.
Davis requested and received permission from the Giants to interview New York offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, a Giants source said. Davis was planning to speak to Gilbride Saturday afternoon.
It’s possible that Davis thinks that Gilbride could do for Raiders running backs Darren McFadden, Justin Fargas and Michael Bush what he has helped do for Giants running backs Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw.
So if the Raiders hired Gilbride, they would have a former Chargers head coach leading them and the Chargers would continue with former Raiders head coach, Norv Turner. The only thing left would be for the Chiefs to hire Mike Shanahan and the Broncos to go after Marty Schottenheimer.
