Raiders moving slowly in coaching search

Even with a knee injury that has had him in and out of the hospital the past month, Raiders owner Al Davis is still “probable” for his team’s coaching search.
Davis’ knee continues to swell and he cannot even use his walker right now because his knee has been swollen up so much. The knee has gotten so bad at times that Davis, who turns 80 in July, has been forced to spend more time on physical therapy than he would like.
Maybe this is one reason that, as of this weekend, the Raiders still have not contacted a single head coaching candidate nor arranged any interviews. This, despite the fact that Davis had been determined not to wait as long this year as he had in other years to hire a head coach. Davis has moved as slowly in his search as he now does is in the hospital.
But it also is more likely that interim head coach Tom Cable simply could be the Raiders choice, Davis feels no sense of urgency to usher along the process, and it all can wait until he is out of the hospital, once and for all.
