Stoops figures to be hot NFL coaching candidate

Big name college coaches such as Pete Carroll and Bob Stoops will have their names bandied about as NFL teams scramble to fill coaching vacancies. But do college coaches ever work out? Not really. Denver Post columnist John Henderson thinks that Stoops could be intriguing, but because of the lack of success of college coaches Broncos owner Pat Bowlen should look elsewhere for Mike Shanahan‘s replacement.

    By the time you’ve read this, the question may have been asked. It won’t be answered, but it should be by Thursday, especially if Bob Stoops and his Oklahoma Sooners upset top-ranked Florida for the national title. Perhaps then Stoops would just feel giddy enough to address the Broncos’ coaching vacancy.
