Favre, despite bashing, Jets’ top option for ’09

Jets quarterback Brett Favre is learning about life as a New York athlete. The media has pointed its fingers at Favre. And now teammate Thomas Jones took a not-so-subtle jab at Favre’s interceptions. Even the Green Bay media is taking its shots at Favre.

New York Daily News columnist Filip Bondy doesn’t believe that it’s all Favre’s fault. In fact, he says that Favre is the team’s best option for 2009.

The unraveling was painful to watch, sure. But Favre’s biceps tendon apparently was torn, and nobody was forcing Mangini to keep the guy out there, throwing downfield. Favre tried his hardest, and here’s the truth that you don’t want to hear: The Jets probably can’t do better right now.
