Cowboys make coaching move … on special teams

Everybody was waiting for a shakeup with Dallas’ coaching staff. Finally it has come, though in a much less significant fashion than some had expected.
The Cowboys let go of special teams coach Bruce Read, whom the team hired from the Tennessee Titans in 2007. Read spent two seasons coaching the much-maligned Cowboys special teams, and now he is looking for work.
To date, it is the only significant coaching change the Cowboys have made. Earlier this week, Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett would return in 2009, though Garrett now is a candidate for the vacant Detroit Lions head coaching job.
