Spagnuolo’s schedule filling up with interviews

If Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo takes the Jets head coaching job, he will be the Frank Sinatra of coaches, doing his own “New York, New York” rendition.

Might happen, too.

Spagnuolo is scheduled to interview with the Jets on Saturday during the Giants’ bye weekend. It will be a busy week for Spagnuolo. Two days earlier, he is scheduled to visit with the Cleveland Browns, who would clearly like to hire their general manager first.

The Lions have also asked for and received permission to interview Spagnuolo, and Friday would be his open date. But right now, the Lions are scheduled to speak with Redskins assistant coach Jerry Gray. So Spagnuolo and the Lions will have to figure out where they can fit each other in. But Spagnuolo might be singing a different tune anyway.
