Singletary will return to 49ers, but Martz?

A week ago, it became obvious that San Francisco was preparing to bring back interim head coach Mike Singletary. Now, there’s more insight into the 49ers’ plans.

San Francisco is attempting to sign Singletary to a four- or five-year contract extension, which would make him the man to lead this franchise into the future.

Whether it’s four or five years is secondary to this: Singletary will be back in San Francisco next season.

The big question is whether offensive coordinator Mike Martz will return. It’s not likely. Though the two men get along well, but they have different offensive philosophies. Still, Singletary and Martz must meet to discuss and dissect the situation before any final decisions are reached.
