Future cloudy for Jets’ Mangini

One coach’s seat that has gotten increasingly hot is New York Jets coach Eric Mangini‘s. The organization appears torn.
There was, according to a league source, consideration to giving Mangini a one-year contract extension, which the team would have liked to have announced before Sunday’s game against Miami.
The fact that the extension was not offered, nor finalized does not bode well for Mangini’s future in New York. There are concerns about his communication skills and the way he connects with players in the locker room. Plus, it didn’t help that the Jets’ high-priced defensive line did not produce a single sack against Seattle’s backup offensive line last week.
If the Jets fall short of the playoffs — a distinct possibility — it’s also entirely possible Mangini will fall short of returning next season.
