Potential fits for Raiders’ head coaching vacancy

Should the Raiders make a head-coaching change, here are four candidates to keep an eye on during Oakland’s search:

  • 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz: Raiders owner Al Davis admires the passing game, and nobody coordinates it better than Martz, who has done a nice job this season in San Francisco.
  • Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride: He has helped mastermind the growth of quarterback Eli Manning and the coordination of a running game that is the best in the league.
  • Ravens quarterbacks coach Hue Jackson: After watching what Jackson did with Ravens rookie quarterback Joe Flacco, the Raiders would need to investigate whether Jackson could do the same with JaMarcus Russell.
  • Former Giants head coach Jim Fassel: He’s waiting for the chance to prove that he can be a frontline head coach.
